South Coast Beacon

40 People You Should Know Under 40

One wielded a volleyball for his country on the beach in Greece, two serve as junior high principals, three are elected officials, and several spread the Tao of surfing, the joy of eating and the delight of working to improve the lives of our community.

Whether they deliver you your nightly news or your daily bread and butter, these locals, all have something in common: They're "under the hill" and making important contributions to our lives on the South Coast.

Culled from hundreds of passionately debated nominations, the South Coast Beacon scoured the town to round up some of the hottest young(ish) people in the area-folks we think you should know about.

Or maybe you already do. Look for your friends, neighbors, relatives and bosses on these pages. And if they're not there and should be, let us know by emailing news@scbeacon.com. Enjoy!

What do you like best about what you do?
Moms In Motion touched a niche, fitness and philanthropy. It's a niche that needed to be filled.
What was your inspiration?
I was the last of my friends to become a mom. I saw how difficult it was (for them) to carve out time for themselves. I was also inspired by Oprah Winfrey's program to give back to the community. (We) adopt different charities for each team and educate our members on different charities out there in the community. They give us wish lists; we provide money or volunteer hours. It deepens the whole experience.
