Reading Food Pantry
Mission & Cause
The pantry serves Reading residents or any active members of a Reading church. Residents must show proof of residency to the Human Services office at Town Hall. Non-residents who are active in a Reading church must have a letter of recommendation from their pastor.
Project Bread, a statewide organization, reported that hunger in Massachusetts has increased from 8 percent three years ago to 18 percent today, according to a recent study. Driven by the high cost of living, along with several other factors, hunger has more than doubled in Massachusetts's low-income communities.
