Fittmom is my e-mail, and I am slowly becoming that person again. Over the last few years (5 if I'm being honest) I quit teaching group exercise, stopped caring about nutrition and found myself immersed in "other" things. Even when I saw pictures of myself, it wasn't motivating enough to get back in gear. In short...I wasn't fittmom...I was fatmom...My metabolism is way beyond shot and repairing it past the age of 40 is not easy.

My epiphany came this past summer, when I had a colonoscopy (Dad is a

survivor) and found through the testing that my cholesterol was high, that I weighed 180 and I had shrunk 1/4 of an inch, which then made my height weight ratio even worse.

That day...I decided to give up Diet Coke. For years I lived on it...and I believe (and recent studies are starting to believe) that it makes you crave carbs, eat more in the long run and it runs amok in your system.

Along with other healthy choices, I FINALLY feel like I am back on track.

I make appointments based on my workout schedule. I put my health first....I still enjoy myself.

I am in training for the 1/2 next month and I am very excited about it.

I try to tell my two daughters to just make healthy choices and hopefully as they are seeing me change for the better, it will at least be in the back of their mind that they will never have to work so hard, if they never let themselves fall out of being healthy in the first place.

I love all of your stories and have found them to be very inspirational.

See you on the road!
