Moms In Motion : Connecting Moms Through Fitness

I definitely need an outlet right now and athletic competition does that for me. I love to compete whether it's in a triathlon or on a hockey team. A team provides camaraderie with a common goal and commitment; however, in a triathlon I am training and competing by myself.

Mentally I am still the young athlete I used to be, but physically I am a 35 year old mom with three young kids. Time for myself is not a priority. Moms In Motion provided encouragement, support and friendships with moms in the same stage of life.

Originally Moms In Motion was to be an outlet for me as my husband fights his battle with cancer. But over this last month even this triathlon has become trivial to me as I watched him fight for his life in the Intensive Care Unit. Part of me wants to quit now because my heart has been ripped out. I have not had any desire to train. However, due to the overwhelming and generous support I (we) have received from Moms In Motion, there is no way I can quit.

Many of these women I don't even know, but through all the emails, stories and determined faces I feel like part of a family that I don't want to let down. My original goal was to beat my time from last year, now I will be satisfied to finish. I thank all of you for the motivation to complete this triathlon.
