When a friend dropped the flier on our desk and said to me, "I want you to do this." I thought to myself, "What a joke! " I haven't seriously worked out since college and the most I have done since the births of my two daughters is take them on quick strolls around the neighborhood. I always have admired people who take on these challenges and I decided that it would be a great goal for me to accomplish and to get me back in shape. The hardest part for me was telling my husband and family. I was actually nervous to tell people because I thought they would laugh and say, "You?"
I was truly surprised by their reaction. Everyone has been so supportive and thrilled that I have taken on this challenge. My parents and in-laws are helpful with the babysitting and my husband has gained confidence in himself that he can babysit both girls at the same time! I am more positive about myself and although I have not lost one pound (not one!) I know I am slimming down and I feel better about my body image. My three sisters are so proud of me and they are in awe that I am actually running miles now instead of yards! I think that I am setting an example for them because they are more motivated to get out and work out!
I also enjoy putting the girls in the stroller and having my 2 1/2 year old put her hands out in the wind yelling" Go faster mommy! Run, run, run!" And I can now actually do it.
Joining this great group of women has been such a positive experience for me. I thank everyone in our group who pushes me to do my best each Saturday and to not give up. Moms in Motion YEAH! YEAH! YEAH!
