Laurie has over 12 years of experience in the health and fitness industry. She recently moved to from Boston, MA to Columbus, OH where she lives with her husband and their high-energy dog, Roxy. She is currently a local Moms In Motion Team Leader, where she coaches women of all ages and abilities to take time for themselves and complete half marathons, triathlons, and whatever other events the women are motivated to do! Laurie is also an adjunct faculty member at Capital University in the Health and Sport Sciences Department, owner of Healthy Investments Personal Training & Health Education, and part owner of Zev Yoga Studios (located in Portsmouth and Exeter, NH).
She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of New Hampshire and her Masters degree in Health Education from Boston University. Laurie is a Certified Personal Trainer (ACE), Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA), Health Education Specialist (NCHEC), and YogaFit Instructor. Laurie enjoys combining her science and education background to help people reach their fitness goals in a way that is both effective and enjoyable. She uses a functional training approach to exercise and focuses on helping people take time for themselves to become healthy individuals and role models for their families. Laurie was a competitive gymnast through college and a professional Jet Ski racer throughout the last 10 years. She currently spends her free time running, training for triathlons, skiing, surfing, and traveling.

Q. What keeps you motivated?:A. Knowing that when I am in shape I have more energy and can enjoy life to the fullest!
Q. What are your athletic goals?:A. Complete an olympic distance triathlon and to start surfing and stand-up paddle boarding more in 2012.

Q. What is your biggest athletic learning curve?:A. Learning to swim for triathlons!
Q. How do you get through athletic mental/physical obstacles during training/event?:A. Focus on the outcome and tell myself that my body CAN do this, even if my mind is starting to hold me back.
